Hi everyone–
I usually confine my pleas for votes and such to m y Book Blog called Beautiful Boys Books. For those of you who may not know, i have two blogs (Plus group blogs as well). This blog i call my Author Blog and here i entertain friends and go on about all kinds of fun stuff — but not too much about my books except for an occasional except. At Beautiful Boys Books, i mostly talk about my books, contests, prizes and such. So if you follow this blog, feel free to come over and follow Beautiful Boys as well. And RIGHT NOW, i’m conducting my Hearts and Flour Blog Tour Contest over at Beautiful Boys Books, so come on over and comment to win some fun prizes.

But, since the Blog Tour schedule is on my other blog all this week, i’m using this blog to tell you about the Menage Romances Fan’s Choice Awards! I happen to be nominated in two categories:

  • Genetic Celebrity is nominated for Contemporary Menage Romance
  • Beach Balls is nominated for Best Romance with Gay or LGBT characters (I know, Beach Balls is not a menage really but someone nominated it and i am honored!)
There are many other great categories and candidates. Voting goes on until Feb 28th HERE
So if you have only read my MM books, it may be a surprise that i also have a menage series. I became a menage writer by accident. I was writing my first boo as a regular MF romance about the passion of an older woman scientist for her younger research partner. At the same time, i read my first MM book and LOVED it.I suddenly felt i had to add another man to the book and bingo, Genetic Attraction was born! I was a menage writer.
Since then, i’ve written several more menages — MMF and MMM. Here are a few things i’ve noticed about menages:

  • ·         Love between three people can be just as sweet and intense and passionate as between two – at least in romance novels! The real-life dynamics of a ménage are probably very tricky, but virtually everyone has harbored in their heart at sometime the thought that maybe, just maybe, they could love two people. Ménage stories play into this fantasy.
  • ·         Ménages make interesting plots. Simple, you have three people to play with, to make interact with each other, to provide richness and detail to your story. My new release, Genetic Celebrity mixes a brilliant young business assistant who is also an amateur chef, with a hard-driving modeling agent, and the gorgeous, androgynous street kid they turn into a top model. I have three very rich stories to play with in my book.
  • ·         Pronouns can be killers! Writing male/male stories is a unique challenge since both characters are called “he”. This is also true in MMF, but you now have another pronoun to add. At least there’s only one she.   I have also written MMM ménages and that is amazing — he, he and, oh yes, he!
  • ·         Sex between three people needs careful thought. The reader needs to know where each character is and what they’re doing. No one can be left out, so we have to see reactions from each character as well as actions.
  • ·         There must be good reason why each character loves the other two. Each must have his own story, depth of character, motivations, just as if it were a love story between two people.

While i’ve mostly been writing MM recently, who knows when i’ll be attacked by menage inspiration again! Meanwhile, if you happen to want to go vote in the Menage Awards, that would be great!  Thank you for coming by and don’t forget to hop over to Beautiful Boys Books and play in the Blog Tour Contest for Hearts and Flour.
