Hi all–
Reporting in from my first full day at Gay RomLit at the beautiful Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The retreat doesn’t officially start until tomorrow but most people got in today. A lot of folks went on a visit to Santa Fe today. I got to go with friends Lynn Lorenz, Z A Maxfield, and Belinda McBride. Lynn drove and we all did some great shopping from the artisans at the Santa Fe Square. Here you see Lynn at the Square
I bought this great pair of earrings, and Zam, Lynn and Bel all bought gorgeous things too. After shopping, we went in search of Maria’s. We were told that this restaurant has the best Mexican food in Santa Fe and it certainly lived up to its rep. Then we had a slight detour seeking cupcakes and drove back to the hotel to set up our Swag tables.
The Swag Room is a ballroom lined with tables laden with fun giveaways. Here’s a shot of my table section. The things in the basket are post-it notes with Spell Cat on them. The real big giveaway, however, comes from those cards with the kitty face. People bring me those cards and i give them one of my Brush with Catastrophe drawstring backpacks.
Also hanging out in the swag room were ZAM Maxfield and author, Christopher Koehler, along with bunches of the two hundred authors who will be attendance tomorrow. We start at mid-day with Pimp Your Badge, but i’ll tell you all about that in another post coming soon. Talk soon. : )
