Hi — My website had some problems so this is a little late getting to you! Happy Holidays!! Wherever you may be and whatever you may celebrate. As you might know if you’ve read my blog for a while or my books for that matter, i discovered after writing about five or six novels that all my stories have the same theme — live an authentic life.
I’m not entirely sure how this became the thread that unites all i have to say in my
novels — and probably why i chose to write gay romance to begin with. I expect it has to do with how i was raised, always presenting the best face for the neighbors, never revealing the “dirty laundry”, acting like the demeaning way men treated women in that era was perfectly fine, and being taught that the only power women had was in the manipulation of the men who held that power. Unconsciously, i’ve lived my life in repudiation of those ideas and i guess it was logical that that repudiation would spark my writing.
So that’s my wish for you this holiday — may whatever your truth is be expressed in the life you live. May you compromise only to the extent it pleases you, may you help others because it’s your joy and what you want to do, not some personal or societal manipulation, may you expect to be treated well and realize the significance of that value.
If you want to defy the cloying expectations of those around you to bound off and write sexy gay romances at “your age” I hope you’ll feel free to do so! I did and it’s my joy!
