Dov and Kane walked into the coffee shop where they were scheduled to meet Jambrea. All the others were supposed to be there as well. He was hoping to see Simon. He wanted to get to know the fox shifter better, but Simon was still a bit afraid of him. Dov hated that. He wanted to be friends with the man because it was hard being the new guy in such a big pack.

They followed Ms. Noel and Jambrea into the café. Ms. Noel went towards Simon and Josiah while Dov held out his hand for Kane. He gripped his mates hand as they settled into a table at the back of the café. He didn’t know why he was nervous, but he could feel the fear coming from Simon. It made him sad because he’d tried to be as nice as possible.

“It’s okay, babe.” Kane kissed Dov’s palm and put their joined hands on his thigh.

“I know. I just hate that he fears me.” Dov shrugged.

“Don’t worry, Dov, he’ll come around. Remember, he is new to the whole shifting thing and you’re a big bear. He is an itty bitty fox.” Jambrea soothed.

“I guess. So why are we doing this again? Didn’t we already do an interview?” Dov really wanted to go home.

“Well—we did. Kind of. But this is just some fun stuff. You have fans you know. They want to know more about you so we thought we’d ask a few questions. That okay with you? No cookies this time, but the tea here is great. We can relax. I promise this will be painless and hopefully fun. These questions are thanks to Kendall. She does them on her blog and agreed to let me use them. ” Jambrea smiled at him.

It was almost as if she was a shifter and could feel his unease. She was pretty spooky that way. Somehow she had the uncanny knack of knowing things before they happened.

“It’ll be fine Dov. We’ll do this for the stories and go home. Maybe have a run.” Kane squeezed his hand and didn’t let go.

Dov needed that connection. He was off kilter today and needed to shake it off.

“Now these questions might seem a bit off the wall, but I will tell you at some point I will be answering these as well. I wouldn’t put you through something I wasn’t willing to do myself. Well—most of the time.” Jambrea winked.

“Okay. I’m ready.” Dov nodded.

The sooner they got this over with the better. The waitress showed up and took their order. Kane got coffee, not that Dov was surprised, but he got tea and so did Jambrea.

After the waitress left, Jambrea began the interview.

“First question. You can both answer or just one of you. Remember to have fun and relax. I’ll start easy with a music question. Madonna or Cyndi? Katie or GaGa?

“Really? Man—does none of the above count? How about some Hank Williams or Alabama. Garth or Reba. Those are some singers.” Kane answered first.

“I have to agree with Kane, but I do happen to like all the four ladies you listed.”

“Well—I’ll listen to them, but I’d rather have on the country station. I have expanded some of my music since Dov moved in. He likes pop. I’m more of a country or classic rock kind of guy.”

“Both great answers. Let’s keep this going. Next question. Anakin and Luck are classic archetypes (The Hero & The Christ Figure), or just a couple of whiney brats.

“Whiney brats.” Kane and Dov spoke at the same time.

Dov looked at Kane and smiled. Kane grinned right back and Dov couldn’t help himself, he leaned over and brushed their lips together. He loved this man and he was happy just to be sitting next to him. It made the anxiety he felt about Simon disappear. They would fix thing so Simon wasn’t afraid.

“Aww.” Jambrea let out a little sigh. “You two are just so darn cute. I’m so happy I got to work with you.” She clapped her hands together.

Dov shook his head and backed away from Kane. If he wasn’t careful, Dov would give a show to the whole café. He knew Jambrea wouldn’t mind because she liked that kind of thing, but he really wanted that kept private. They’d given away too much already as it was.

The waitress came back with their drink order. Dov finally let go of Kane’s hand. Dov wrapped both his hands around the tea and took a deep breath. It smelled heavenly.

“Next?” Kane asked. He was still grinning and Dov didn’t blame him.

The situation could have been uncomfortable, but Jambrea always put them at ease.

Jambrea cleared her throat. “Right. Next question. Star Wars or Star Trek?”

“Do we have to pick? I like them both.” Dov shrugged.

“I do like them both, but I’m more of a Star Trek fan. Especially the reboot. They cast those new movies so perfectly and I can’t wait for the next one. Dov and I watch them all the time. And they have that guy from Sherlock in the second one. Sherlock is one of my new favorite shows.”

“I do like Sherlock, but I’m more of a Dr. Who fan myself. Or Torchwood. I still get upset over Ianto. He was my favorite character.”

“You two are going to make me cry. Ianto was my favorite too. He was so perfect for Jack. I know some didn’t like the American Torchwood, but I really enjoyed it. Probably because I watched it a while after the first series. Dr. Who is a new favorite for me too. We have so much in common. Maybe I could come over some time and we can do a marathon. I love movies and tv almost as much as reading.” Jambrea grinned and took a sip of her tea.

“That would be fun. But not grilling.” Kane pointed a finger at Jambrea.

“Well—unless we’re having steaks.” Dov winked.

Jambrea just shook her head. “Okay you two, we’re done for now, but I reserve the right to call you back for more questions if I need to.”

Dov was happy with the first part, but then Jambrea had to ruin it with the talk of more questions. If he could keep her out of their sex life, he’d be happy.

“I can deal with that and we need to make plans for you to come over. Maybe we could throw a small party with the other guys and authors in the anthology. Watch some movie or something. Maybe we can get Simon to calm down enough to enjoy it too!” Kane sounded all excited.

“That could be fun. I have a new recipe I could try out.” Dov loved it when Kane was excited.

“Oh! I love having someone cook for me. I’m in!” Jambrea grinned.

She wasn’t too bad as long as she was just there as a friend. Now if she came to them talking about a sequel, all bets were off.
