Hi! Before i do anything else, i want to tell you you can still enter to win a $25 GC in the Winter’s Wolf Blog Tour. Click HERE.
You may know that i’m away on vacation. I got to go to the fabulous Dreamspinners Authors Workshop which was held in Orlando, Florida over the weekend and that was a great excuse for my honey to join me here and for us to go over to Walt Disney World to do the parks. We spent a day and a half at Epcot Center which was most notable for its FOOD!! Actually, the original part of Epcot, Future World, which was visionary and cool when i first saw it 20 years ago, now feels dated and stuck in the past. It really needs some work. But my fave part of Epcot has always been the World Showcase where you get to walk around a beautiful lake and experience a taste of 11 different countries. The Pavilions are staffed by young people from the countries, so they feel very authentic. And many of them have restaurants. Our first day, we had lunch at Mexico which was great, but the high point was lunch the second day at Italy’s Tutto Italia. OMG, i had a chicken with lemon cream and capers to remember — with white asparagus to boot.
Today was incredible. We visited Animal Kingdom and, while i’ve been to zoos all over the world and love animals, i saw two things i’ve never seen before — bats close up and a very small baby gorilla right on the other side of a piece of glass. Amazing. The bats wings are this incredible, flexible skin and they have golden hair on their backs. We only saw boy bats since they keep the females in harems and would fight if there were any females in the group. It was fun observing their upside down genitals which are formed pretty much like humans. The baby gorilla was so cute he actually made me cry. He was chasing after his mom with a little stop for some playing with a ball. I’ve included pictures which are pretty bad sadly because the lighting was so awful in the enclosures but i’ll remember these things forever. Maybe i’ll use them in a book. Hmm. I’ve always wanted to do a vampire. Not sure how to use the baby gorilla.
Anyway, tomorrow we spend with friends and then thursday do a day at Hollywood Studios. Then i’m on a plane home. Talk soon. : )
