Hi from New Orleans! This is my first full day at #RT14, although the conference doesn’t really open until tomorrow. For me, today was all about finding the venues, finding my boxes, and finding my friends — all successful! First, i was happy dancing up and down the escalator at how beautifully our Gay Romance poster came out. I went together with a batch of great authors to buy the poster, but the placement was definitely a gift from RT. Right at the top of the escalator. Take a look — isn’t it fabulous?
Another highpoint of the day was a walk into the French Quarter to buy earrings! LOL. Three years ago i bought some cat earrings at a tiny boutique and always wished i had bought them in another color as well. I found the boutique and the red version of my cats were sitting on the counter waiting for me! Then we went to the artists coop near Jackson square where we met James who charmed us all — and we all walked out with some of his earrings! Here’s James.
The the super event of the after noon was a trip to Commander’s Palace, an elegant old southern restaurant in the Garden District, with my friend ZA Maxfield. Amazing food. I had this delicious chicken dish made with a sauce of tomatoes, artichokes, kale, olives, and white beans. All topped with pesto! Amazing.
And the view in the lovely sunroom around us was classic New Orleans.
Tomorrow is the first of several wildly busy days. We kick it off with Pimp Your Badge at 8:45! Readers come in and bling out their badges with all the charms and glitter we provide. Wish you were here! Hugs!
