And what I want to know is… do you like to watch?

I recently did an interview where one of the questions was “which fictional character would you want to have sex with and why?”

Which is a really good question, because I hadn’t been asked that before AND I didn’t have to think about the answer. Win-win! My answer was Jamie Fraser from Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander because he’s a strong alpha male perfectly at ease with a strong woman, a warrior, a lover, a dreamer, a family man, and we can’t forget the kilt… yum, yum!

But it also got me thinking. For m/m sex scenes, as hot as I find the men, it’s definitely more of a voyeurism thing on my part. I’d be more interested in watching them boink like bunnies, rather than getting any sugar for myself. So… with that in mind, I started wondering which couple (or threesome) I’d most like to watch in action. It wasn’t a tough call, either. First ones that came to mind were Rock, Rig, and Dick from Sean Michael’s Jarheads books. They’re sweet, hot, caring, and always ready to put on a show 😉

One of my publishers had a call for an anthology about voyeurism. To my knowledge, the anthology never happened, but the idea inspired two of my books, First Time, Forever and Trompe L’oeil. On the surface, these books don’t appear related at all, but should you read both, remember they both came out of me writing for a voyeurism anthology.

Trompe L’oeil

When Maxwell, a Depression-era artist, spurns the attentions of his sponsor, he ends up cursed to live out eternity in a painting. The man who cursed him delighted in playing the exhibitionist for Maxwell, and by the time the old man dies, Maxwell longs for his life and body back but he’s pretty sure he never wants to watch anyone have sex ever again. Until he discovers who his new owner is.

Tyler isn’t sure what to do with a life-sized painting of a nude man, but it was a gift from his sister to ease the pain of a disastrous break up and subsequent coming out. The gorgeous subject of the painting disappeared without a trace decades ago, rumored to have been killed by the painting’s previous owner in a jealous rage.

Becoming more and more fascinated by the man in his painting, Tyler uses his resources as a history professor to solve the mystery of Maxwell’s disappearance. He finds himself spending more time in his bedroom, talking to the painting, researching and aching to know the man in person. Maxwell falls under Tyler’s sweet spell, discovering the thickness of canvas might be an insurmountable distance to cross.

 First Time, Forever

Derrick and Trevor used to have an incredibly passionate relationship, full of spontaneity and sizzle. Now that their son is off to college, they want to put their days of routine, vanilla sex behind them and bring back some of that spark.

Realizing that they’re empty-nesters, Trevor begins to notice their age difference. He suddenly feels old and unsure of himself, and isn’t confident Derrick still desires him. When Trevor decides to keep his health issues and gray hairs down there to himself, Derrick is hurt by his partner’s secretive behavior and thinks Trevor must be having an affair.

Nothing could be further from the truth, but Trevor doesn’t know how to communicate his fears to his partner. He desperately wants to reconnect with Derrick and rev up their sex life, but will it be enough to reclaim their marital bliss?
