Hi everyone! Please welcome my friend, Vicktor Alexander who has brought us a wonderful new paranormal romance called The Beginning. And there’s a big giveaway down there so check it out! I’ll let Vicktor tell you about this new adventure himself —
Ronny & Cole in Love (With a Dash of Something Special)
-excited waving-
Hey everyone! How did everyone’s Valentine’s Day go? Well, if you have been following the tour you know that Ronny and Cole had a very… -clears throat- enjoyable one. I, myself, spent it eating strawberries, chatting with you all who are following the tour, writing, and fantasizing about my future husband.
No, not Shemar Moore.
And no, not John Barrowman.
But my actual future husband.
And of course thinking about what happens AFTER Valentine’s Day.
Or as is the case for many of my heterosexual friends. What happens 6-8 weeks after Valentine’s Day…
THE PREGNANCY TEST.
Which of course made me think about The Beginning.
One of the things that I loved when it came to writing this book was the fact that Ronny spends a lot of time and energy talking about how he is not a twink from a romance novel. He gives reasons and explanations behind it and he uses that as an excuse to keep Cole at an emotional distance. But one of the things that Ronny can’t seem to do is stay away from Cole. Oh, he tries to fight it. He fusses and complains, but he doesn’t protest when Cole’s hand touches him, or strokes his arm or when Cole leans down to kiss him possessively…
-clears throat-
Sorry, got a little carried away there.
So even though Ronny tells Cole that he’s not a “twink from some fucking romance novel” (which is totally my way of poking fun at myself because I love writing my twinks, even if I don’t tend to date them) he secretly wants to be one. He wants the romance that he’s read about. He wants that excitement. He wants that love story.
What he does not want, or at least he doesn’t think he wants, is a family. You know, children, babies, college tuitions, the whole thing.
So perhaps that is why the possibility of “a dash of something special” occurring because he mates with and sleeps with Cole never dawns on him.
Even after he starts to read The Real Holy Bible.
It’s not until he has the proof in front of his face that Ronny realizes that even though he’s gay, in this new world, where paranormals exist and have been around since the beginning of time, there is nothing simple about just falling in love.
Cole, of course, is stunned but takes things in stride and as I was writing him I could see a little of myself in both Ronny and Cole. I knew that if I had been Ronny I would have flipped out and probably overreacted, but if my partner were Ronny I would have been Cole and been confident and reassuring.
Which is what made writing Ronny and Cole together so great. They complemented each other so well. Even their reactions were perfectly suited for the other. Where Cole would overreact, Ronny remained calm and vice versa. And them falling in love came naturally and it wasn’t forced. When they did I actually breathed a happy sigh.
In the comments below, tell me about someone in your life who complements you perfectly. Either a significant other, a best friend, maybe a sibling. But tell me all about them.
Blurb:
Ronny Parker has always been aware that there was more to life outside of his Harlem apartment. When he goes to work one morning at Starbucks, he finds himself coming face to face with a reality that he was not prepared for. He finds himself the eyewitness to a fight between two shifters, a wolf and a lion, one of which bites Ronny and calls him “mate.” When Ronny wakes up the next morning, he finds himself thrust into a world neither his family, nor his teachers, ever taught him about and he does the only thing he can do. He starts to investigate.
Cole Tronk has been taught from an early age that he is never to mate a human, never reveal his true nature to a human, and that he cannot be gay. But when he gets into a fight with his oldest friend outside of a Starbucks and finds himself smelling the most intoxicating scent ever, he throws all of those rules out of the window. Before long, Cole and his mate, Ronny, are on the run from the governing body of the paranormals, humans who have now discovered that paranormals, magicks, and supernaturals exist, and someone from Ronny’s past who is determined to kill them both.
Along the way, Cole and Ronny meet up with a group of paranormals, magicks, and supernaturals who are also gay, and who are researching the true history of the world and creation. What they find will not only change their lives, but the entire world and the future. Will Ronny and Cole’s mating survive all of these obstacles? When a millennia-old lie comes back to bite them in the ass, will Ronny and Cole be able to deal with the consequences?
Excerpt:
Seeing Ronny had caused a host of different emotions to collide within Cole. He’d been excited, aroused, nervous, afraid of what his next step should be, agitated that his mate was not only male, but human to boot, and jealous of the clothes that got to touch the human’s skin. He’d realized, even while he was doing it, that revealing himself to not only be a shifter but the other man’s mate, would bring a hunt down on their heads. He’d almost considered walking away, but his father’s words to him had echoed through his mind: A mate is the most precious thing given to us by the Supreme Beings. No matter what, or who, it may be, you fight for your mate. And so Cole had done just that. He didn’t regret finding Ronny, or even claiming him, he just wished that they might have more time than they actually did to get to know each other before the elders, leaders, and enforcers of his pack found out.
Cole sighed and leaned back against the wall, brushing his hand down his face as exhaustion and frustration swamped him. He really didn’t want to bring his mate into a dangerous situation, but what else was he supposed to do? A shifter could die if they smelled their mate, began the bonding the process, and then walked away.
“What’s wrong?” a soft voice asked.
Cole’s body tightened like a bow string. Looking up, he found himself trapped in the dark brown gaze of his mate. His lion roared, fighting with Cole’s spirit trying to get out and mark, claim, and fuck their mate. Cole leashed the beast within him and smiled up at Ronny.
“Nothing to worry yourself about, sweet thang,” Cole said. He chuckled when Ronny’s brow furrowed and a grimace swamped his face.
“Sweet thang? Really?” Ronny asked and shook his head. “Look, I’ve been thinking about it. I’m not going to be mad or hold it against you that you bit me and essentially put my life in danger, because you’re going to walk out that door and forget that I even exist.” Ronny folded his arms across his chest in a protective gesture.
Cole quirked an eyebrow and chuckled darkly. “Oh really?”
Ronny hesitated and nodded. Cole rose to his full six-foot-seven-inch frame and looked down at Ronny. He growled low in his throat before pressing his nose into the curve of Ronny’s neck. He let out a purr and rubbed his face against the skin of Ronny’s chin, neck, and shoulder. When he felt Ronny shiver, Cole grinned and let his sandpapery tongue out to lick at his mark. Ronny hissed and Cole wrapped his arms around the other man’s waist to catch him before he fell.
“That reaction right there? That’s the reason why I won’t be walking away from you. Ever,” Cole said harshly but in a soft voice right against Ronny’s ear. “You belong to me now, Ronny. I will never let you go. You are the mate of a lion shifter and we are a possessive bunch. So it doesn’t matter if you’re “letting me off the hook” or not. I’m not letting you off of mine.” Cole felt Ronny stiffen in his arms and he released the other man from his embrace and stepped back to sit in his chair. Grabbing his venti coffee cup, Cole held it up to his mate. “Can you get me a refill, please?” He laughed outright when Ronny snatched the cup with a growl of his own before turning and stomping back to the counter.
Oh, this was going to be fun.

I met my best friend and soul mate on a blind date in late September 1982. We got engaged at Christmas and Married in Mid April 1983. It’s not been a smooth ride, but I wouldn’t swap him for the world. He still tells me He loves me. What more can you ask.
Love today’s excerpt. Thank you Vic. And thanks Tara for having us.
Thank you for that story Elayne! So sweet. And thanks for following the tour.
Thank you for hosting me today Tara!
Great excerpt! I’m a big fan of the m/m genre and find myself drawn to the premise of this story! Thanks for being here today and for the awesome giveaway!
In my excitement earlier I forgot to mention that it’s my sister who compliments me perfectly. We like a lot of the same things and even after not talking for a few days can pick up as if there was no pause.
That’s awesome Jody! My best friend Angel and I are like that. We can go two weeks without talking and pick up a conversation that we ended from two weeks before with just a “Remember when we were talking about…” And I’m glad you’re drawn to the story! I hope that if you decide to get it (or you win it) that you’ll enjoy it!
I’m what you’d probably call a recluse or loner. I’m extremelly shy in person therefore I don’t really relate to people in my day to day life. I talk much easier online. The 2 people I’m closest to are my sisters. Loved the excerpt.

Thanks Shorty! I get that. I have a friend of mine who is the same way. He’s all bold and flirty online but swears that in person he’s super shy and a bit of a recluse. I think it’s because the computer is almost like “electronic courage” like alcohol can sometimes be “liquid courage”. We can meet up with like-minded people and not have to worry about looking the “right” way or anything like that.
Thanks for sharing!
With my mom and one of my best friends, it’s like we’re really alike interest-wise (cooking and art), while my other best friend is more different (very techie). But they’re all really easy to talk to!
I love cooking and art Trix! My bio mom is very into cooking as well as both my sisters and my brother and younger sister and I share the love of technology. Whereas my best friend, Angel, and I share a love of… well gorgeous men for one. LOL.
Thanks for sharing and for stopping by the tour!
Thank you for the neat blog tour! Two of my good friends from various stages of life really compliment me well, which is fun. Thanks for the chance to win!
Thank you for stopping by the tour and following it! I so appreciate the support of the readers and authors. It makes the writing all worthwhile.
It’s great that you have two friends to complement you. Not everyone has that. Thanks for sharing!
I have what’s known as agoraphobia, meaning I’m not much for crowds or public venues. I do much better on my own. I love my online community but my soul mate is my sister. We txt, email and chat all day and on weekends we talk for hours on the phone.
Thanks for sharing the release of your book, it’s already on my tbr.
[email protected]
Elise, I’m sorry that you’re agoraphobic, but you seem like you have found a way to counteract that particular situation by having an online community and group of friends. And I’m glad that your sister is your soul mate. It sounds like you both have an awesome relationship.
And thank you for sharing! I hope you enjoy The Beginning.
I don’t know that I’ve found that person yet. I don’t have an SO, and though my parents, sister and friends complement pieces of me, nobody’s quite matched up everything yet. My puzzle is still missing parts, I guess.
Ashley that’s completely fine. Everyone isn’t the same. Some people are so beautifully unique that they need more than one person to hold up and complement the beautiful masterpiece of their soul. You sound like one of those people. Don’t worry, all of your missing parts will come together soon.
Great excerpt I am a fan of the Tate pack and I love your shifter series. My soul mate is my late ex we were two peas in a pod. I miss him and to think it’s been three years since his death. Thanks for the blurb and writing sexy wolves.
Thank you for the continued support Monique! And for sharing your story. I understand about the loss of a loved one. My fiance, Christopher B, passed away almost 8 years ago (July 27th will make 8 years) from brain cancer and I still miss him. He was my second soul mate. My first soul mate was my best friend, Justin, who passed away from AIDS a few years ago. I’m glad that, even though you lost him, that you got to experience his love and that bond that so many people search for.
Thanks for sharing.
My best friend in the entire world is Sarah Dockery. I met her through another friend in college. She makes me believe in dreams and magic and doesn’t judge me for the crazy things I fall in love with no matter how crazy over them I get. There’s never a day that I doubt she’s there for me. That means something to me.
Shandra, you sound like you have an awesome best friend! Yay for you and Sarah! That sounds so great. If only everyone had friends that made them believe in dreams and magic.
Thanks for sharing!
My Soulmate is still my husband, he was my best friend .
One day I kissed him and he told me he wanted something serious and that kiss better not be a joke.
I asked him to marry me 5 weeks later, and also 5 weeks later we got married. That was 33 years ago, he told me he would do it all over again with no regrets 🙂
Wow! Veronica what an AWESOME story! So beautiful. Congratulations on 33 years with your husband and soulmate. I hope to have that some day with my own husband(s). If me and the guy(s) can ever find each other.
-sigh- LOL.
Thanks for sharing!
I don’t have a significant other So…. I guess I’d go with my sister? Heh… we’re really close but I guess that could be because we’re closer in age than my other sister but, sometimes we’re talking and enjoying a movie or something and we sometimes totally think the same thing. Or.. I’m having this random thought while watching tv, say it, and she’s all like, “Oh my god! I was thinking the same thing” haha… It’s so cool sometimes to be able to tell my sister things or guess at things without ever really having to have to say it. LOL…
Mine would be my Fiance’, Joe. He is the Ying to my Yang. If I hurt on the left side, he hurts on his right side. He is compassionate, caring, generous with his time and everything he owns, and treats me like a Queen. We both know we are meant to be together, that we are soul-mates or twin flames. We feel as we were one split in half many Eons ago, thus now that we are together, the right and left sides of each of us combine into one perfectly.
My sister and I are like two peas in a pod. She always gets what I’m saying and understands my weirdness. I also get her and the weird things she does. We always have fun together even if we’re doing something horrible like moving.
I met my other half from my sister in the 8th grade but didn’t get together until jr year but where I’m more sensitive to thing he’s more of aggressive & alpha male type. But he complements me really good because we get along great.
The person who complements me the most would be my husband. We met the very first day of freshmen orientation in college. I was a freshman and he was a transfer student so while older still had to do orientation.
We connected immediately and while I used to think love at first sight was a romance novel occurrence only I now believe in at least having a deep connection at first sight. We were married a year and a half later when I was only 19.
We have been married for almost 10 years now and we are complete opposites which makes us a nearly unstoppable team. His strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa. We speak in unison at least once an hour and it will be whole phrases or statements not just words. Our children find it very creepy especially if we both scold them at the same time using the same words.
I love him completely and feel as though he is merely an extension of me like an alter ego or something similar.
Love this blog tour Vic and thanks to Tara for hosting!
