War Sucks! Hot Men! Max Vos with The V-Unit

V_unit_600x900Hi everyone —

Please welcome Max Vos to the blog. Max has a new book called The V-Unit and no pretty boys for him! But we’ll forgive him since he’s bringing us some vampires in love! Here’s Max to tell us about it.

Howdy y’all. Glad to be here today. Thanks you Tara for having me.

So, y’all want to know about the new book of mine titled the V Unit, eh? Okay, I’ll give it a shot…

It started with a NaNo writing challenge in October of 2012. I was still starting out with this whole writing thing, and the friend that got me into it wanted me to do this challenge with her. The idea is to write a book in 31 days. Sure. I was so green that I didn’t bat an eye. Problem was, I really had no idea of what to write.

I’d always said if I were a writer I’d never write a vampire story. I mean, after Anne Rice, who could top that? Right? So it came down to a dare. Well…I took the dare, never thinking it would go anywhere. A week had already passed by the time I got a solid story line in my head.

With no time to waste, I banged it out and still had a full day left over. I wrote the main body of the book in just three weeks. Why then did it take so long to publish? Because, like I said,  I was still very new. There were a lot of grammatical errors. A LOT of editing that needed to be done. Polishing and tightening up of dialogue and the list goes on.

I would shelve it for a while, then go back to it. I’d read it, put it away, pull it back out, put it away. Finally I got tired of doing that and really focused on getting it ready for publication. It was a work of love and a lot of frustration. I thought the story was pretty good, if I did say so myself.

You don’t like vampires? Yeah, well I tend to be very particular about my vampires. There will be no glimmering, sparkling, vegetarian vamps for me! Nope. If I’m going to do vampires, they are going to be the real deal.

However, this is not a vampire story. What, you say? Nope, it is a love story that happens to involve vampires. How’s that for a twist? The whole story is about the politics and challenges within the vampire world, but it really is a basic love story.

Now for those of you who have never read my stuff, I need to warn you now. I don’t hold back. If hot, steamy, sweaty man-sex is not your thing, then do not pick this book. If you like young twinkie boys, do not pick this book. If you like a solid story with real men, you just might like this one.

The V-Unit —

Blurb: Only a select few in the human world knew of the existence of the V-Unit, a small group of highly trained Marines – who happened to be vampires. And it would have stayed that way. But when events in the vampire world, threatened the stability of the human world, the powers that be called for the unit’s specialized services.

An intrepid war correspondent, Bronson Rudan, who’d seen more than his fair share of fighting, stumbles across the unit by accident, and is drawn into their world. Bronson has no problem with that, given that he gets to spend time with a hunky Marine Lieutenant, Sarge. Although he won’t remember any of this when they’re through.

At least, that was the plan…
