Beauty, Inc. by Tara Lain in French #BeautyandtheBeast

Hi. a quick note to let you know that the super popular Pennymaker Tale, Beauty, Inc. will be released in French on Feb. 27th. This is my homage to Beauty and the Beast in contemporary, gay romance parlance. Every Pennymaker Tale is a standalone book, united only by one character — Mr. Pennymaker. They can be read in any order.

A Love in Laguna Novel

To architecture student Ian Carney, family means everything. Taken in by his brother, Jim, when his father threw him out at eighteen for being gay, Ian yearns to create his own family with his boyfriend, Rico. But Rico’s in Mexico caring for a sick father, Ian hasn’t had sex in a month and a half, and his gorgeous boss, Braden Lord, CEO of the architectural firm Ian interns for, is looking better and better.

Braden’s life is chaos. Just out of the closet and going through an ugly divorce from his wife of fifteen years who’s trying to take custody of his two children, he desperately resolves not to succumb to a completely inappropriate attraction to Ian—even though his kids adore both the man and his crazy cat.

When Rico proves to be a snake in the grass and Ian exercises his powers of seduction, what starts as a “friends with benefits” fling turns into real life real fast. Can Ian give up his romantic dreams for an “old guy” who didn’t come out until he carried a mountain of baggage? It’ll only take a thousand steps.

Excerpts!

SindersAndAsh-400x600Sinders and Ash

Housekeeper Mark Sintorella (Sinders) works diligently at a resort hotel while designing clothes anonymously, hoping to get into fashion school. Then his carefully planned life is upended with the arrival of Ashford Armitage, son of the fifth richest man in America—and the most beautiful guy Mark has ever seen. Ash must find a wife or he’ll lose his grandfather’s inheritance, and he settles on Bitsy Fanderel. But secretly Ash is gay, and the guy who cleans the fireplaces sets his heart ablaze.

Further stirring the pot is the little elf of a man, Carstairs Pennymaker, who has Mark wearing his own designs and masquerading as a girl to impress the fashion investors in the hotel. When the clock strikes twelve, two beautiful princesses line up for the wedding—but one isn’t a woman. Will the slipper fit? Only Mr. Pennymaker knows for sure

Pennymaker turned and looked at Mark. “What are you working on?”

“Excuse me? I, uh, have to clean some fireplaces this morning. You know they keep the rooms cool just so they can use them? Makes work for me.”

“That’s not what I mean, of course.” Pennymaker turned back to the rack and pushed some jeans aside. “Aha!” His hand shot through the garments to the dress form. He made an opening in the clothes and stepped through to stand beside the red dress. “Perfect. Just beautiful. What a talent.”

“Excuse me?”

Pennymaker beamed at him. “You have exceptional design skills.”

God, it was hard to not be flattered. “Thank you, sir.” But how had Mr. P known to look for the dress? Who’d told him?

Pennymaker walked over to the chair and sat. It creaked. Hopefully the tiny man wouldn’t strain the old wood too much. “I would like to show that dress to some people.”

“Uh, who?”

“Let’s say some potential investors.”

No. He couldn’t get excited. “Really, sir? You’re in the clothing business?”

“I’m in many businesses, my boy.”

Okay, try not to be suspicious. “How did you know I was a clothing designer?”

The little man waved a hand. “That lovely T-shirt, of course.”

“No one told you?”

“Who would tell me?”

Had him there.

Pennymaker stepped back and surveyed the dress. “Now, who is your model?”

What? Mark cocked his head.

“Whom did you set the dress form to?”

“Oh, uh, myself. I, uh, don’t have anyone else. I’m pretty slim, so it works.”

“Perfect. Perfect. When do you have to be at work?”

This conversation was crazy. “In about an hour. This is my morning off. Unless they need me, of course.”

“Good. Put on the dress.”

“What? Why?”

“We’re going for a little walk through the hotel. You’ll be my… niece. Go on, go on.” He made a shooing gesture with his hands.

Mark shook his head. “Sir, I know I fit the dress to me, but that’s because I don’t have anyone else. I’m not a transvestite.”

“Never said you were, dear boy. But these people I want to have see the dress will be much more amenable to taking your designs seriously if they think of the idea themselves rather than me telling them. That’s how we all are, now isn’t it? I want them to see the clothes. We don’t have another model, and we don’t want anyone else in on our secret.”

Secret? “What if someone recognizes me?”

Pennymaker cocked his head. “That’s very unlikely. You do a good job making yourself plain and unmemorable with your cap and glasses.”

Mark felt the blush. Shoot. The man had him dead to rights.

“Besides, people see what they expect, and they certainly don’t expect to see Mark Sintorella in a dress. Now, put it on.”

Mark stepped behind the rack of clothing. He stripped to his boxer briefs and stopped. What the hell was he doing? He could jeopardize his job for this crazyassed little guy with his hairbrained scheme.

The voice came from the other side of the clothes. “Do you have it on?”

“Sir, I don’t mean to be rude, but are you sure about this? I really need the money I get from working here.”

“Tut-tut, my boy. Hurry. I want to make one tour around the lobby and public rooms before you start your shift. Time’s a wastin’.”

Mark pulled the dress over his head and let it fall into place. The skirt was just full enough to swing when he walked, so no one would notice his cock under it. “Uh, I don’t have any boobs.”

“Let me see.”

“See what? What I haven’t got?”

He stepped out.
Pennymaker looked at him studiously. “Gorgeous. You don’t have breasts, but then neither do some women to speak of. I’m more concerned about the hairy legs. Go shave, quickly.”

“What? Sir, I don’t think so….”

“This won’t be your only modeling assignment, I suspect, so think of it as a long-term investment. Consider that brilliant young model who used to walk the catwalks in both male and female shows. You’re at least her equal in beauty.”

“But—”

“No buts. This is your future. Now go!”

But when Belle’s family starts manipulating his life again, the odds turn against happiness for beautiful Belle and his beloved beast.

“Looking for someone?”

“Yes. Judy. My friend. I thought she was coming here.”

“Oh yes. She has her apartment on the ground floor. Mr. Strong thought it would be best if she didn’t have to climb too many stairs while she’s being treated.”

Belle just stared. He felt the tears welling in his eyes but couldn’t stop them. Limb by limb, he collapsed to the floor like an old plastic bag. His own father hadn’t even paid attention, and Magnus Strong put Judy on the ground floor to keep her from having to climb stairs.

Mr. P closed the door and flopped down beside him. “So, my dear, what seems to be the trouble?”

Belle shook his head and snuffled.

“Try again.”

“I did a really bad thing.”

“What might that have been, my dear?”

He sniffed. “I humped my boss.”

“Hmm. Humped. I’m failing to get a mental image.”

Belle sighed. “It’s probably just as well. I got overzealous and threw myself on Magnus Strong. That might have been okay, but then I—” He dropped his face in his hand. “Oh God.”

“I’m starting to get an image. Continue.”

He popped his head up. “I kissed him, okay? And then, as if that wasn’t the stupidest thing ever done since W said “mission accomplished,” I managed to get my penis in contact with his and—humped. Now do you get the picture?”

Mr. P clapped his hands. “Perfect.”

“Oh, so far from perfect.” He fell back against the large Asian throw rug. “Why did I do it? Why?”

“Excellent question. Why did you do it?”

“He turns me on.”

“What?”

Belle sat up, in his best Frankenstein’s monster imitation. “He turns me on like a large neon light.”

“Because he helped your friend?”

“Way before he helped Judy. Before he helped me, in fact.”

Mr. P smiled. “So you acknowledge that he’s helped you?”

“Oh hell, Mr. P, I’m so confused. I mean, getting won in a poker game doesn’t exactly kick a relationship off on a sterling foot. Plus, that was after he seemed to be stalking me. I assumed he was trying to get me here to—you know—screw me instead of my father.”

“Ah, I see. And now you’ve thrown at him the very thing you assumed he wanted—and he refused it.”

“In a word—yes. I don’t know what to think.”

“There’s only one answer, my dear. Outside the box.”

Excerpts

Magnus
stared at the photo he kept in the top drawer. Quit being sappy. Still, helping Judy Brancoli brought it all back.
He sighed. A good reason to stick with other philanthropies.
Is someone here?
He looked up
just as Belle stepped into his doorway. His heart skipped. What did Belle’s expression
mean? Confusion? Anger? Hope? “Hello.”
Belle
swallowed hard. “Are you the one who called Judy last night?”
Okay, what
had he done now? “Uh, yes. I—I thought—it was so late, and no one else was
here.”
“You had a
ticket waiting for her at the airport and got Leroy to meet her?”
“Yes.”
“And gave
her a job and insurance?”
“I talked to
HR, yes.”
Some huge
storm battled behind Belle’s midnight blue eyes. He didn’t seem to be able to
catch his breath. He just gasped and clutched his chest. Magnus stood. “Are you
okay? Can I get you water?”
Suddenly
Belle took off like a gazelle that had spotted a lion—except he ran to the lion. In three bounding steps, he
crossed the office and hurled himself at Magnus. Before Magnus could prepare, a
tall, slim body hit him full force, arms wrapping around his neck. “Thank you.
Thank you. Oh my God, how can I ever thank you?”
Magnus lost
his balance and staggered, arms coming around Belle, falling until his butt hit
the office chair, which rolled back. They smacked the wall with Belle sprawled
on his lap. He gasped for breath, and the exhale came out as a laugh. It was
like having the world’s cutest dalmatian on his lap—a dalmatian he’d like to
kiss and embrace and otherwise manhandle. Dream
on
.
Belle kept
hugging and muttering, “Thank you. Thank you.”
Magnus
adjusted Belle a little so he was actually sitting on Magnus’s lap but didn’t
make a big enough thing out of it to scare him off. Hell, this was a moment to
savor and prolong.
Finally
Belle stopped wiggling, which was good, since the vibration was getting to
Magnus’s cock. Belle stilled and seemed to hesitate. Reluctance or
embarrassment? He sat back and looked into Magnus’s face. “Hi.”
“Hi.” Magnus
couldn’t help smiling, even though the effect wasn’t really friendly. “I’m very
glad you’re happy.”
“No one’s
ever done such a wonderful thing for me before.”
Magnus tried
to be corporate and fatherly—very challenging in his current position. “It’s
the mission of this company to help women.”
“Yes, but
this was very personal. I’ll be grateful all my life.”
“I’m glad.”
His heart beat so hard they both should have been able to hear it.
Belle looked
down at where he was firmly planted on Magnus’s lap. “I guess I was a bit more
enthusiastic than I planned.”
“You don’t
hear me complaining.”
Belle slowly
looked up at Magnus’s face, which made Magnus want to cringe or hide. Too close. Belle cocked his head and
inspected every inch of Magnus’s ruined landscape of a face. Slowly, he leaned
forward and kissed the scar across the bridge of Magnus’s nose. He whispered,
“In for a penny—” and his mouth moved south until he kissed the distorted
corner of Magnus’s mouth.

 “Looking for someone?”
“Yes. Judy.
My friend. I thought she was coming here.”
“Oh yes. She

BEAUTY is Coming from Tara Lain!

Beauty,Inc-400x600Hi — Are you one of the many who love Beauty and the Beast? Well BEAUTY is coming from Tara Lain. I don’t think i realized when i chose to do a modern retelling of this fairy tale — my story is called BEAUTY,INC.– how many people love it. I also didn’t know that the live action movie would be released at the end of the year. So all happy coincidences. In case you haven’t see it, here’s a look at the trailer for the movie.

My story follows the general theme of the original. A beautiful young man, Robert “Belle” Belleterre, who is also a brilliant chemist is rather sold down the river by his misadventurous father and winds up in the clutches of “the beast”, a rival cosmetics executive who is known for his brilliance and his ugly face. It was extremely fun creating a “palace” for Belle to live in while he’s with the beast — in my case a wonderfully eccentric apartment building in Brooklyn full of wild and loving characters. I also got creative with my beast and wrote a hero who is beautiful every way except physically.

If you’d like to pre-order BEAUTY, INC. just click HERE for links and an excerpt. The book releases in just a few days — June 8th! I hope you love my Beauty!

Excerpts

He pushed into the marble and glass room just as
Belleterre came out of a stall. He seemed to be taking deep breaths, and his
high cheekbones were flushed pink. He saw Magnus and the blush darkened, which
was more than any gay man could stand.
Try to look natural.
Magnus stepped up to the urinal and hauled it out—clearly a losing proposition,
since the mere sight of the guy prompted a half-mast condition. Breathe. You’ve gotta pee or he’ll think
you’ve lost it. In through the nose.
Belleterre walked to the sink, pulled some paper towels
from the dispenser, wet them under the water, and applied the compress to his
cheeks.
Magnus managed a thin stream, shook, and zipped. He
walked to the sink beside the beauty called Belle. He contained his smile since
he knew it was scary. “You’d think with their prices, they could afford better
air conditioning.”
The guy startled, looked at Magnus with wide eyes, then
burst out laughing. Clearly symphonies had less melody. “You certainly would.
In fact, there’s a lot about this place that could use some investment, I’d
say.”
“A man after my own heart.” He extended his now clean
hand. “I’m Magnus Strong.”
The guy nodded. “Of course. I’m Robert Belleterre. I
expect you know my father.”
“Yes, I do. So you’re Belle?”
“That’s what they call me.”
“A chemist.”
Belle nodded.
“Honored.”
“I believe you’re also a chemist.”
Magnus nodded. “A long time ago.”
Belle’s lips curved just enough to cause cardiac arrest.
“Honored.” He walked out the bathroom door.
Magnus leaned against the sink and took deep inhalations,
then managed to get it together enough to return to his table.
Elliott stared at him anxiously. “So? Did you meet the
mystery man?”
“Yes. It’s Belle Belleterre, all right.”
“Wow. How have they kept that under wraps all these
years? Seriously, once that kid’s puss hits the social sites, forget
anonymity.”
Magnus pushed his plate aside and leaned in. “I want
every detail on their new product. I don’t care who or how much you have to
bribe. Just do it. Likewise on Belle Belleterre. What does he like? Hate? What
drives him? Get it all for me.”
Elliott nodded. “I’m on it.”
Magnus stared across the restaurant, where Kleinschmidt’s
hand rested on the back of Belle’s chair. Magnus felt his hands clench. “And I
want to know what the hell he’s doing with Eric.” He could still feel the
tingling in his hand where they’d touched, and the tingling in his cock. He
sucked a breath. This is no time for
stupid, hopeless infatuations.
“Just find out as much as you can as soon as
you can.”
“Will do.”
“And the game you arranged for me tomorrow night?”
“Yes. All the confirmations are in. It should be great
poker and hopefully some great information as well.”
“You know how I said I didn’t want to include Ron
Belleterre?”
“Yeah, because he drinks too much.”
“I changed my mind.”
Elliott smiled. “May I ask why?”
Magnus grinned back. “Because he drinks too much.”
They both laughed.

A tap on his doorframe made him look up. Oh. Everything in him turned to ice—and
then it quietly melted. Magnus Strong occupied his door—and dominated the room.
Power. Force. And a sexual magnetism that defied his ugly face.
Magnus smiled, which exaggerated his disfigured nose, his
scarred lips and cheek. He stuck out a hand and crossed the room vigorously.
“Dr. Belleterre, welcome. I wanted to come and personally express our
admiration for your talent. We’re delighted to have you at Beauty, Inc.”
Warring emotions flashed through Belle’s chest—the
lingering amazement from his father’s praise, admiration for Strong, guilt over
that admiration, and embarrassment that his cock stood at half-mast just from
the impact of Strong’s presence. He wanted to smile and hated that he wanted
to. If he stood up, would his erection show?
Strong’s smile slipped just a little. Belle panicked. Don’t be an ass. He half rose. “Thank
you. And thank you for the apartment and the driver. I appreciate both very
much.”
Strong had started to pull his hand back, but now he
stuck it forward again. Belle had to shake it. His hand was swallowed by
Strong’s big paw—interestingly rough and disturbingly hot. Sweet Jesus, why does he turn me on? He looked everywhere except at
the man who so confused him.
Strong said, “Well, I just wanted to say welcome. Let me
know if there’s anything you need.”
Belle nodded, dragging his eyes up from the desk. “Thank
you. I will.”
Just that fast, Strong was gone.
Belle collapsed in the desk chair. Why didn’t I ask him who picked the apartment?

Because you’re
afraid to know the answer.
