Hi everyone–
One of our favorites, Mina Carter, is back today with a new story. She warns it’s light on plot and heavy on sex. Umm, some warning! PLUS, when you comment on this post you will NOT ONLY be entered to win Hard As a Rock, you will also receive one entry in Tara’s Golden Dancer Blog Tour Drawing on Sept 27! You can win a copy of Golden Dancer, or Volley Balls or a Golden Dancer drawstring backpack, so get that comment in fast! (Hop over to the Book Blog after you read this story and read all the Blog Tour rules). I also want to mention that Mina designed the header for both of my blogs! Can i get an Amen? Aren’t they great? Okay, enough praise. Here’s Mina.

Good morning all! I’d like to thank Tara for having me back (you’d think she’d have learnt I’m loopy by now, wouldn’t you? 😉 )
So today I’m talking about my latest release, Hard as a Rock. A little paranormal erotica short (and when I say short I mean short, it comes it at around 6000 words which makes it just right for a coffee break or a bit of bedtime reading.) it features one of my favourite paranormal creatures, gargoyles.
I’ve always been fascinated with architecture, and gargoyles kinda go hand in hand with that. They’re a functional part of a building, designed to carry water from a roof and away from the walls…basically they’re little more than carved water spouts (the ones who don’t carry water are called Grotesques).  There are legends about Gargoyles (most notably the Legend of La Gargouille where the head of a dragonlike creature became the first gargoyle) and mostly we associate them with the middle ages but they’ve been used as far back as Egyptian times (they were a little less inventive than the medieval stone masons and went with Lions heads).
Medieval gargoyles were often chimera’s such as griffins, centaurs, harpies and mermaids, although there are many more which defy these traditional descriptions. The hero of Hard as a Rock, Cal, is a chimera grotesque although we only briefly see his non human form. In my worlds Gargoyles and Grotesques are ‘born’ into packs depending on the building they originated from. The three I’ve written about Knuckles (from Sunlight and Slavery), Mac (in Siren’s Seduction) and Cal all come from a church in Middle England called St. Michael and All Angels. When it was pulled down, it’s gargoyle pack moved on and scattered through the world which, of course, leads to all sorts of potential and fun stories.
So… here’s a question. What’s your favourite paranormal creature and why? I’ll be giving away a copy of Hard as a Rock (although I warn you it is light on the plot and heavy on the sex 😉 )
About Mina

Mina Carter was born and raised in Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England). After a slew of careers ranging from logistics to land-surveying she can now be found in the wilds of Leicestershire with her husband and daughter.

Suffering the curse of eternal curiosity Mina never tires of learning new skills which has led to Aromatherapy, Corsetry, Chain-maille making, Welding, Canoeing, Shooting, and pole-dancing to name but a few. A veteran Star Trek RPGer, she’s run both games and groups of games but now finds her home in Alpha Fleet, one of the internet’s oldest Star Trek simm groups.

Her first stories were penned at age 11, when she used a stationery set meant for Christmas thank you letters to write stories instead. More recently, she wrote for her own amusement and to save on outrageous monthly book bills.

Now a full time author and graphic artist she never tires of creating new worlds and the hot heroines and determined heroes to inhabit them.
