Get Ready for Magic, Shifters, and the Coolest Cat Ever! #CataclysmicShift

Hi —

I’m so excited to tell you that the re-release of Cataclysmic Shift is only 3 days away. This is a book in my paranormal series called The Aloysius Tales, and the first time it released, some mix ups in categorization meant a lot of people missed the book. If you’ve read either of the other Aloysius Tales — Spell Cat or Brush with Catastrophe — and enjoyed them then you’re not going to want to miss Cataclysmic Shift. But you don’t have to have read those books to enjoy this one.

This story includes not only witches like the other books, but also a shifter, and the coolest cat ever, Aloysius.

Here is the blurb —

Aloysius, the magical black cat and powerful witch’s familiar, isn’t afraid to go into battle to protect his master, but the outcome of the fight turns his feline world upside down. A direct hit of magic steals not only his memories and power, but even the body he’s lived in for several centuries. When he wakes up naked on the floor of a veterinarian’s office, it isn’t as the cat Aloysius, but as the sixteenth-century French gentleman Alain Bellarose. And when Alain sees sexy and enigmatic veterinarian Luke Elliott, he decides he’ll make the best of his time as a human.

Luke is a man with secrets who generally prefers the company of animals—though the flamboyant boy who washes his face with the side of his hand and tries to lick his own privates might prove an exception.

Meanwhile, Witch Master Killian Barth and his secret weapon, Sammy, struggle without Aloysius’s power to draw on. Two evil females are circling, and seeing the coven’s weakness, they’re about to move in for the kill. When Alain’s memories return, he’s faced with the ultimate dilemma: protect his community or stay with the man he loves.

How Steamy Do You Get? Lisa Eugene is STRICTLY BUSINESS!

Hi everyone–

It’s my pleasure to welcome a new guest to the blog. Lisa Eugene is on her Blog Tour for her new release, Strictly Business. And trust me, this book is about business of the very best kind. Here’s Lisa.

Well…humm…I have to say that my sex scenes do get pretty steamy, but I think it’s a product of my writing. The best review I ever got was when someone wrote, “You can really feel what her characters are feeling and going through”…that’s what I aim for, so I tend to be very descriptive with my writing! If my characters are going through it, I want my readers to go through it too! If they are sad, I want my readers to feel sad. If they’re angry, I want my reader to feel angry. If they are horny…well, you get the picture! Although I want my sex scenes to be realistic, I try to be tactful and romantic with my wording. Although, lets face it…there’re only a few words to describe the private areas so it can sometimes be a challenge.

I want my writing to be an emotional experience. I myself am a voracious reader. I like to absolutely immerse myself in a scene. I want to know the textures of the reality. What color is the sky? How does the breeze feel against my skin? What does this world smell like? I think that’s why my sex scenes tend to be explicit. I want to know what my hero and heroine are feeling, tasting, and smelling….maybe a little weird, right? But, that’s me. That’s also why my husband says I’m horrible at telling jokes. If a guy walks into a bar, I want to know what he’s wearing, the color of his eyes, what the bartender looks like…lol

Reading is escapism in its most cerebral form. I believe that you can live many lives inside your brain. That’s what daydreaming is about. An author can help create a fascinating daydream or spark the fuse for one. I have to say that it’s also a little bit voyeuristic. We as people, love to look into the lives of others, not just sexually, but in a way that depicts everyday lives…look at reality TV. We are fascinated by what others are going through. I think in a way it gives us validation that we’re not alone. We’re not the only one having a bad day, or having bad hair or bad skin or bad sex. Or on the other hand we may revel in the joys and triumphs of life just by observing or reading about the lives of others. It can be fictitious or real. It’s life. I enjoy depicting that life as a little more exciting and sexy.

So…steamy sex scenes…hell yeah!

Blurb: Conservative Emergency Room Physician, Nina Henley has always followed the rules. Her life has been dictated by her unwavering commitment to medicine. Wade Connolly, renowned medical malpractice attorney and ‘New York’s sexiest bachelor’ enters her life and challenges her with his bold sexuality and intense passion. One look into his gorgeous blue eyes and Nina is forced to acknowledge needs that have long been repressed. When she becomes involved in Wade’s perilous malpractice case she realizes that she is at risk for not only heartbreak, but betrayal as everything she’s worked so hard for is threatened. Will Wade’s passion and love be enough to save her or will she lose everything…including her life?

Professional, she kept repeating to herself. Gorgeous and huge! Another voice kept insinuating itself into her overheated brain. The air in the room was thick and the only sound that echoed off the walls was the steady rhythm of their mingled breaths. Nina moaned as he lifted her top, exposing her black lace bra. Cool air teased her hot skin, making her shiver. A finger tormented her nipple and she was sure she whispered “please” before he groaned huskily and closed his mouth over her breast.

Caught in a cloud that was all sensation and need, she trailed her fingers down to the waistband of his pants.

“God…I want you. Where can we go? Is it safe in here?” His husky breath floated against the shell of her ear, sending a hazy buzz along her skin.

The loud jingle of the beeper hanging precariously from her scrub bottoms sliced through the moment like a sledgehammer. They both stared at each other, stunned, wide eyed, and wanting.. She exhaled an unsteady breath as she skimmed a hand over her hair, ignoring the jab of several pens. She quickly checked the state of her scrubs. She couldn’t believe that she’d acted so impetuously—like a sex starved lunatic!  Remorse stabbed at her. Thoughts of her promising career and the life she’d built all twirled around in her head like a frenzied tornado, threatening to disappear into the fuzzy distance…

Z.A. Maxfield Introduces GRIME AND PUNISHMENT with Something for You!

Hi everyone–
Today, it’s my delight to welcome my good friend and inspiration, Z.A. Maxfield, back to the blog. ZAM and i were just at RT, did a bunch of workshops together, and i doubt that she’s recovered either! But we’re both thrilled about her new release, Grime and Punishment. This is the start of a new series, so get it quick! PLUS, if you leave a comment with your email, you can win any book of ZAM’s INCLUDING this new release.

Grime and Punishment by Z.A. Maxfield

The Brothers Grime is Jack Masterson’s way of helping people in crisis after disability ends his career as a firefighter. Jack’s people get to a scene long after the physical trauma ends. They don’t solve crime or rescue the victims. They help people move on. The new job is all Jack wants or needs, until he gets the call about old flame Nick Foasberg’s suicide.

Ryan Halloran’s cousin Nick has been on a downhill slide for a long time. Despite that, Ryan does everything he knows to help. Ryan only understands part of what happened between Nick and Jack in high school, but after Nick’s suicide, Ryan agrees both he and Jack need closure. They work together to clean the scene and despite the situation, heat flares between them.

Jack is keeping a painful secret and fighting his attraction to Nick’s look-alike cousin, Ryan. Ryan calls himself a magnet for lost causes and worries Jack might be the next in a long line of losers. Despite his misgivings, despite the past and the mistakes they’ve both made, Jack gives Ryan something to look forward to, and Ryan gives Jack a reason to stop looking back, in Grime And Punishment.

Jack couldn’t say exactly how he ended up sitting at Dave Huntley’s mother’s kitchen table, drinking coffee from delicate, gold-embossed teacups. When she brought out a bag of shortbread cookies and turned the whole thing into a teddy bear picnic, he pinched himself discreetly.

Because he didn’t want to think about Nick, his thoughts settled on Dave.

This is where Dave comes from.

This explains so much.

Karen’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “What Jack is saying, I think, is that while you might be able to clean the room yourself, it might be better—emotionally speaking—to have a third party come in.”

Ryan slid a glance Jack’s way. “Is that what Jack is saying? That I might be emotionally scarred by cleaning my cousin’s blood from the tub, and he won’t?”

She bit her full lower lip. “Jack, I believe what Ryan is saying is he’s worried—”

“I heard him.” Jack sighed. I’ll have to ask Dave if his mom is a marriage counselor. “We both knew the deceased.”

The phone rang, and Karen left them alone while she answered it.

For a couple of minutes, silence consumed them. Jack heard the number on the stove clock flip over from 10:56 to 10:57. Then 10:58.

“Why are you here?” Ryan finally asked.

“To bid the job like everyone else.”

“Right.” Ryan’s tone of voice indicated he didn’t buy it. He’d wrapped his arms around himself.

Jack put his cup into the saucer none too gently, then pushed it away. “Christ. I should not be using something as fragile as that.”

Ryan’s lips curved into a faint smile. “They’re pretty, though.”

God. Pale skin, pale brows. Freckles dusted the bridge of his nose and were scattered by the thousands over his forearms where he’d pushed up his sleeves.

Eyes the lightest shade of blue, like shadows in the snow.

Ryan was so like Nick. Yet…they were as individual as snowflakes.

Where Nick Foasberg had been built brutal in the way of Irishmen with the blood of Vikings in them, Ryan had softer edges. He was all lean muscle mass and just as tall as Nick, but he wasn’t keen like Nick had been. He wasn’t sharp or hard.

Ryan’s body language said he had nothing to prove.

He was intelligent. That much was clear. Was he a Foasberg? Or a cousin with a different name?

Jack said, “Look, you don’t know me, but—”

“I know of you.” Ryan’s gaze locked with his. “I know what Nick did to you. I was there.”

Jack’s heart dropped like an elevator with a broken cable. “You—”

“I know he humiliated you. How he and his friends beat you.” His gaze was searching. “What did you think would happen when you asked him to senior prom publicly, when you made a circus out of it so everyone knew you had a thing for him?”

Jack’s heart contracted. “I don’t know.”

I didn’t expect my best friend—who was also my fucking lover, goddamn it—and six other assholes to beat the hell out of me. I didn’t expect I’d barely escape being sodomized with a broom handle because someone called the cops.

No, sir. I did not expect that.

Lighting My Own Way Home by EM Lynley
My newest novel, co-written with Shira Anthony, has been very close to my heart. It’s the first book I’ve written with Jewish characters. Even though I’m Jewish and I’ve written a Christmas story every year, I’ve never featured Jewish characters. So the experience was something new!
In Lighting, the main character, chef Joshua Golden, left home to travel the world and work abroad after experiencing a broken heart at the hands of friend-turned-lover Micah Solomon. Josh turned his back on his home, his family and his Jewish heritage and didn’t think twice about it as he made a new life for himself in another country.
Like Josh, I also moved abroad after college and spent most of the next ten years living in London, Tokyo and traveling the world. I also lost touch with my own Jewish heritage. So, writing Josh’s story as he comes home and rediscovers what he’d been missing was a very familiar feeling for me.
Shira and I had a great time fleshing out our characters. We have had different Jewish experiences, but we still found common ground with our connection to the Jewish community and the enjoyment of being part of that close-knit community, no matter how much time one spends away. We had similar ideas for Josh’s parents and recognized some of our own relatives in their mannerisms, opinions and personalities. It was such fun to bring those memories to life on the page and share them with our readers.
Like most Jewish families, a big part of any get together involves food. For Josh Golden, whose parents run a kosher restaurant in Manhattan, food is an even bigger part of life. Many Jewish rituals revolve around meals, so it’s no surprise! And because Lighting the Way Home is part of my food-centered Delectable series, there’s plenty of cooking and eating in the story. Even better, we’ve included some of the recipes the characters prepare, so you can share the experiences with your own family.
Like Josh, I’m glad I made it a point to revisit my own roots in Lighting the Way Home, to remember what was so special about my family and childhood, and reconnect with Jewish ideas. I hope you’ll enjoy visiting part of the world that Shira and I love being a part of.

For ten years, Josh has done his best to forget how Micah shattered his heart into tiny pieces. Now Micahs back, fresh out of prison, and helping out at the restaurant. Micah may not be the kind of sous chef Josh is used to, but he is more helpful and supportive than any of the other employees. When they arrived home, the house was noisy and crowded. Add some music and it might be mistaken for the club he’d been to the night before. Well, not quite. Today’s visitors were a gaggle of elderly Jewish ladies—friends of his mother—who bustled around the downstairs, rearranging platters of food and catching up on the most recent neighborhood gossip.

“Joshua! Look how you’ve grown.” A woman he didn’t recognize came up and squeezed his cheek. “Oh, how handsome you turned out.” She still hadn’t let go of the cheek when she kissed him on the other.

Josh glanced down and saw a gleeful smirk on Ethan’s face as Josh got the same treatment Ethan had endured at shul. The first pincher was replaced by a series of other half-recognizable ladies smelling of baby powder and kugel. Josh made his way through the women and found his dad sitting in his arm chair in the living room. They called it his Archie Bunker chair, after the character in the old TV sitcom. Now the chair made his dad look like a kid.

“Your mom’s upstairs. I made a rule of two people at a time and the crew”—he waved a hand at two ladies guarding the foot of the stairs—“is enforcing it for me. I just want some coffee and a knish.”

“Let me see what’s in the kitchen.” Micah came in behind Josh and then left on the food-hunting errand. Ethan waved at Seymourand then scuttled after Micah.

“How was shul?” Seymour motioned for Josh to sit on the couch.

“Fine. Good. Actually really good.” Josh noticed his dad’s eyes light up. “Lots of people asked about mom. The rabbi made me lead the prayer….”

Seymour let out a strangled sound Josh realized was a laugh. “Made you?”

“Yeah. I really felt like a fish out of water.” He noticed his father was looking at him strangely. He couldn’t think why, but his own attention was on what he hadn’t noticed before. His dad just looked burned out, exhausted. Why hadn’t he seen it? Because you haven’t been looking. He’d been preoccupied with his own concerns of coming home and finding Micah here, and of course his mom’s surgery. But he hadn’t taken two minutes to really look as his father. He’d spent more time putting on eyeliner the night before. His stomach churned at the idea. At how he’d spent his night—thinking only of his own enjoyment—and not what and who mattered most.

“But you did it. That’s the main thing.”

“I almost didn’t. But Ethan helped me.”

“He’s a smart kid, that one. He’ll go far. You’ll see.”

“Dad, Micah said—” Before Josh could continue, Micah arrived with a plate of food for Seymour. Ethan brought him a glass of water—seltzer, his favorite. Josh could wait till they were alone again.

“Joshy,” a voice called from halfway up the stairs. For once, Josh didn’t cringe at the nickname. In fact, he realized he kind of liked it. “Come up here and see your mother!”

Seymour waved him away and Josh left, but he looked back at his dad with Ethan sitting on the floor near the Archie Bunker chair, still in his jacket and tie. His dad looked down and said something and Ethan cracked up. It was good they got along so well, Josh thought, since Jenna and her kids didn’t live nearby. His father looked as though he genuinely enjoyed Ethan’s company.

Upstairs, Miriam lay on the bed propped up with about two dozen pillows. She looked like a tiny china doll. Her two best friends, Mrs. Zimmerman and Mrs. Samuels, sat at the foot of the bed. They used to babysit Josh and his sister when they were little.

“Joshy, look at you.” He knew another pinch was coming. Mrs. Zimmerman could have played a crab on TV if she didn’t keep kosher. Mrs. Samuels went for the other cheek. “Oh, my you’re so handsome. Why are you still single?”

“I remember you in the bathtub and—”

“Okay, Mrs. Samuels, thanks for that memory.” Josh cringed at the idea of what she might say. Knowing these two ladies had seen him naked and might now be telling eligible singles about his penis scared the daylights out of him.

Jessica Freely Brings the Gorgeous Guys of UNLAWFUL

Hi everyone–
Great week for guests! Welcome my friend Jessica Freely who is bringing us a nibble of her new MM scifi romance that will take you to a fascinating world! It’s called UNLAWFUL. If you leave a comment with your email, you may win your choice of books from Jessica’s backlist in her drawing on Feb 3rd! Here’s Jessica to introduce us to one of her gorgeous guys (I’m in love already!) Hi Jessica!

Hello everyone and thank you for joining us today! A big hug to lovely Tara for having me over. I’ve brought someone else with me, as you’ll see.

I thought it would be fun to talk to the heroes of Unlawful, each of them on their own and then later together. Since Tara loves pretty boys, of course, Larke was the obvious choice for her blog. Here we go.

A tall, slender man with shoulder-length blond hair, wearing dress slacks and a white shirt open at the collar, looks about himself with some concern. “Where am I?”

“You’re in the blogosphere, Larke. It’s a place between stories, where I sometimes send my characters to talk about their books.”

His concern becomes alarm and he turned in place, trying to find the location of the disembodied voice that just spoke to him. “Who are you? Where are you?”

“I’m Jessica Freely, and I’m your author.”

“Oh shit. My author?”

“So… you decide what happens to me.”

“And it’s because of you that I met Droje?”

“Uh huh.”

He brightens. “Oh. Well, thank you!”

“So what do you think of him?”

He looks left and right. “Can he hear me?”

Bites lip and leans in. “Okay, I know we’ve only just met and he’s an outlaw and all but…” He smiles. “I really like him.”

“You mean like, like like him?”

He nods. “It’s not just that he fucks like a jackhammer. It’s… him… he’s… I’m still not entirely sure about this business about freeing the uncons? But the fact that he cares so much about it, about them, and me, and his team, makes me think maybe there really is something to it. I can’t imagine him being involved in something that was really wrong, you know?”

“I think so. And it’s not as if your world doesn’t have few things in it that are considered wrong, but aren’t.”

“Yeah, like liking men.” He pauses, frowns. “Hey, did you decide it would be that way?”

“Uh… Let’s get back to Droje. He’s hot, right?”

“Oh yeah. And he doesn’t make me feel like there’s something wrong with me for wearing my hair long and for the way I look… or for wanting him.”

“I thought the two of you would hit it off.”

“I’m really glad I met him. Something tells me my life is going to be different from now on.”

“Better. More meaningful.”

“Ah. Good. Thanks Larke. “

Now here’s an excerpt from Unlawful.

In a world where being gay is unlawful and slavery is legal, two men fight for their lives, for their desires, and for justice. Larke is a corporate lackey with a secret. Droje is a freedom fighter on the run. Each spells trouble for the other, but the passion between them will not be denied, no matter what the risk.

Up ahead a crowd spilled out of the Orchid, a nightclub popular among his coworkers. Laughter echoed up the street. Larke slackened his pace, studying the group. He didn’t want to run into anyone from his office, especially out here, after hours, outside the bounds of corporate propriety. He didn’t want to hear what they might say to him. He didn’t want to risk what his reaction might be.

He spotted Prinde among the revelers. Shit. The very last person Larke wanted to see. He had to get out of here before they spotted him.

An alley loomed ahead. Fear slithered up Larke’s spine at the prospect of taking refuge there. Escaped uncons were known to hang out in such places, just waiting for the opportunity to attack the unwary.

“What’s next, ladies and gents?” Prinde and his friends started heading Larke’s way. In a moment they’d spot him.

Larke ducked down the alley.

It was dark, and dirty. Trash lay strewn on the ground in damp heaps. Larke’s pulse quickened. This looked exactly like the sort of place where a good, law-abiding Hanovan would get jumped by rogue uncons.

Except Larke wasn’t exactly good or law abiding.

And he’s trying to be happy about it — until a robbery at the famous Laguna Winter Fantasy brings JJ face-to-face with tough cop, Ryan Star. JJ hears Ryan likes guys who are manly men, so he drops his voice an octave, colors over his pink hair, and tries to pass as a football fan. Ryan Star may be tough but he hides in the closet at work since he learned in New York that being a gay cop can cost you your life. His attraction to that big, handsome kid threatens his anonymity, but he can’t seem to resist. JJ is just his type. But then JJ goes skiing and comes face to face with his greatest nemesis– and all the secrets come out of the closet. Can Ryan love JJ for who he really is? More important, can JJ?

Back in the room, JJ went into the bathroom and brushed his teeth and changed into pajama bottoms. The prospect of a whole night in that four-poster bed with Ryan Star had him very hot under the collar—if he’d been wearing one.

When he walked back out, Ryan was lying on the bed stark naked and holding a very erect cock. His long, powerful legs stretched out in front of him and the arrow of dark hair on his abdomen pointed directly at Mr. Happy. “Uh, remember your prediction about how the tour and dinner would make us horny?”

JJ turned sideways to give Ryan a view of the huge tent in the front of his pjs. “Yes, I seem to remember that quite well.”

“Shall we see how well the Ahwahnee beds accommodate two big men?”

JJ sidled over to the bed and, in one move, shoved the elastic waist of his pajamas down below his stiffy. He stared at Ryan’s cock. “Did you hear about the passionate soprano who chased the choir master around until she caught him by the upright organ?”

Ryan laughed but never stopped stroking his dick. “Maybe we can make that a passionate baritone.”

“You know how you’re going to teach me to ski tomorrow?” Shouldn’t have said that. Too nervous.

“Maybe tonight I could learn a little pole dancing.” JJ pulled off the pjs and sauntered toward Ryan. “You got the goods?”

Ryan grabbed a box of condoms and a tube of lube from the nightstand and put them on the snow-white sheets. JJ knelt on the edge of the mattress holding on to one of the upright posts like a dancer and swung back and forth so his cock bobbed and weaved what he hoped was irresistibly.

Ryan squeezed his cock at the base. “Baby, you better sit on this pole fast because I could come just looking at your ass.” He reached over and grabbed a condom from the box, then opened the package with his teeth and slid on the sheath.

JJ crawled toward Ryan then turned and presented his butt. “Lube me up.”

“Oh yeah, like the finest model in the showroom, baby.”

JJ heard a cap pop and then felt cold and squinchy wet in his hole. Ryan started with one finger but JJ wailed and that got him two, then three. “Oh my God!” The last finger made it right to the prostate. He pounded back on the digits for a second but why settle for second best?

He pulled away from Ryan, grabbed the lube from the bed, and made a fast pass at slicking Ryan’s condom-covered cock. Tossing the box aside, he squatted over Ryan’s hips.

“Whoa. That’s a sight. All those muscles holding that ass ready for me. Oh man, you are something to see.”

“Then watch closely, detective.”

JJ grabbed Ryan’s cock and positioned it right at his hole. “Are you watching?”

“Riveted.” And those blue eyes sure were locked on the point of contact.

Hope you enjoyed it. Our release events are just beginning so come back here often to check out the whole schedule.Remember to visit Lex Valentine’s TODAY to enter to Win Snow Balls and hop over to the Author Blog for the Christmas Wishes Blog Hop!.  I love Blog Followers! : )

SNOW BALLS is COMING December 7th! Here’s a Hot Excerpt.

Hi everyone–
Snow Balls, the new book in the Balls to the Wall series, is coming in a week! This story turns out to be a  great favorite of mine. Just to get a little saliva going, here’s a sexy excerpt to pique your interest.

Excerpt Adult:  SNOW BALLS by Tara Lain; MM romance– The Cop and the Creampuff

Available December 7th from Amazon  ARe

Big, handsome and hunky, JJ LaRousse looks like an alpha male but acts like an interior decorator.

They were traveling at a good speed when Ryan pulled over to the second to the right lane. Odd for the speed demon. Ryan looked at JJ and then brought his hand across the console, found JJ’s zipper and, in one pull, had the whole thing down. Holy…before JJ could catch his breath, Ryan had dug into his fly, loosed the beast from its underwear cage, and was pumping JJ’s cock like he was giving it CPR. And he was, baby, because that hand could save a man’s life.

“Holy crap!” JJ threw his head back against the seat and tried to breathe. Hard and steady, the pumping action shot juice into his balls and straight up JJ’s spine.

Ryan chuckled and whispered in his growly voice, “You like that, big guy? Sometimes you just have to be creative to get what you want.”

That tricky devil. Choosing the lane where they could go slow and not have to deal with so much traffic. Of course, trucks would get an eyeful, but what the hell? Oh God, it felt so good. But no way was he getting all the goodies. JJ reached over an arm and unzipped Ryan.

The cop looked down with wide eyes. “You figure I have driving control of steel?”

“I trust you.” He stuck a hand inside and, holy moly… “You’re commando!”

“Yeah. I don’t like underwear much.”

“I’m not complaining.” JJ grabbed a nice, thick penis. “You’re packin’ there, detective.”

“Always prepared—holy shit!”

JJ grinned. He had big, strong hands and one was wrapped tight around Ryan’s rod. Stroke and stroke. The guy’s eyes widened, but he kept staring at the road. JJ watched his own hand pumping Ryan’s thick cock, then looked down into his lap where Ryan was starting a bonfire with JJ’s wood. This had to be the sexiest thing he’d ever seen. Probably the dumbest too, but right now he could care less. Driving down the freeway doing a double jerk-off. The smell of sex filled the car and went straight to JJ’s head. His hips danced under Ryan’s hand like they had their own mind.

Ryan made funny little noises. “Hunh, hunh.” But he kept his eyes glued to the freeway like it was his path in life. “Hunh, hunh.” His breath came faster and his hand in JJ’s lap pumped harder.

A big semi whizzed past in the right hand lane and JJ looked up at the driver. But the guy didn’t turn his head. Might have been fun if he had. Ryan’s hips pumped up just as much as his foot on the gas would allow. JJ didn’t have any such restriction and he was bobbing and weaving while lightning bolts of pleasure flashed through his cock with every stroke of Ryan’s hand.

Ryan took his hand off JJ’s cock and grabbed JJ’s pumping hand. “Hold on. Go slow or I’ll come and that could be very bad for my driving record.”

“OK.” JJ barely got the words out because Ryan’s hand was back on his cock.

“Just let me take care of you, big guy. It’s fun for me.”

“I think it’s way more fun for me.”

I hope that was good for you!  LOL. Thank you for coming by. We’ll have a bunch of prizes being given away for this new release. I’ll be at several blogs and doing a bunch of blog hops and parties. Kay Berrisford Launches SIMON, SEX and the SOLSTICE STONE with GOODIES for YOU!

Hi everyone– Happy Thanksgiving Yanks and happy Friday everyone! I hope your day was wonderful I told you–great week for guests! Welcome one of our favorite visitors around here, Kay Berrisford. Kay has a super new book with her own unique style of magic and sex. It’s called Simon, Sex, and the Solstice Stone.

To launch it, Kay is giving away to one lucky commenter a copy of either Bound for the Forest or Bound to the Beast, her wildly popular MM, BDSM historical fantasies! So get your comments in.

And Kay will tell you about her imaginative new book. Here’s Kay —

Writing a story about Thanksgiving – how hard can it be?  Well, if you’re British like me, the answer might well be – “pretty much impossible.”  What if I got my version of one of the most important dates in the US calendar wrong?  I might not realize my mistake before it’s too late, but any American readers would sure as hell spot it fast.

That was my natural response when presented with the challenge of writing a story encompassing two dates in the forthcoming holiday season. Christmas and New Year I could obviously deal with and Veterans Day I know well enough as Remembrance Day.  But Thanksgiving had me running a mile, right as far as…well, the winter solstice. Here, conjuring images of the midwinter sun, Stonehenge, and ancient ritual, I felt far more comfortable.

I decided to write a story set between the solstice (21stof December) and Christmas. But now I had a new problem. Three days isn’t much time for my MCs to fall in love. Indeed, seeing as one of them, Aubrey, was a lost time traveller from 1647 and the other a shy student with his roots firmly in the 21st Century, I figured they needed a little bit more of a “getting to know you” period—not to mention the time to unravel the mysteries of the circle of stones and work out how to get Aubrey back to the English Civil War! I figured they wanted about a month, but if you rewind a month from the winter solstice…oh look, 22nd November, we’re back at Thanksgiving.

I decided to bite the bullet.  After all, I don’t flinch at writing stories set in distant historical cultures I’m never going to visit, so why should Thanksgiving intimidate me?  I’m going to Washington DC next year! Besides, it was also the perfect opportunity for pouring on the angst.  What if my shy student, Simon, had always celebrated Thanksgiving with family in New York till this year?  Stuck in rainy old England on a normal November day, even a trip to his favorite stone circle isn’t going to cheer him up without a miracle, or at least something very strange happening…

In the end, I had great fun researching Thanksgiving, reading loads of stories and historical accounts, though a mere fraction of what I learned made its way into the story. Only the opening part is set at Thanksgiving, and then the narrative launches right through the month to the solstice and Christmas. But I’m glad I took the time.  After all, now for the first time, I have a good idea what I mean when I wish all you American readers – HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Simon, Sex, and the Solstice Stone (published by Loose Id, m/m, paranormal, time travel, 45k).

Blurb: Simon’s holiday season is looking grim. His boyfriend’s dumped him, and his self-esteem is rock bottom. Stuck in the UK where nobody celebrates Thanksgiving, the shy, geeky student drowns his sorrows at an ancient stone circle. When a gorgeous stranger, Aubrey, shows up and attempts to seduce him, Simon is flattered but also freaked—especially when Aubrey claims to be from an historic sex cult who’d uncovered the true powers of the circle. It’s a time machine. Aubrey intended to travel back three hundred and sixty-five days, but an error propelled him forward three hundred and sixty-five years into a world alien to him.

Simon reluctantly takes the lost time traveler under his wing, and Aubrey teaches Simon the ways of sex, love, and magic. Simon’s never felt so alive, but as their bond grows, Aubrey remains determined to perform a dangerous ritual and return home at the winter solstice. Fearing he’s no more to Aubrey than a sexual sacrifice, Simon must discover the dark secrets of Aubrey’s pagan past. Only then can Simon choose between risking all for the man he loves or a lonely Christmas without him.

They crumpled to the shower floor, Simon boneless in Aubrey’s arms. They panted as one. “Sweet heavens,” murmured Aubrey at length. “I have never known such fire. I don’t quite know what possessed me.” He planted a kiss on the top of Simon’s head. “Apart from you.”

“Mmmmm.” His afterglow fading, Simon clung to the pleasant feel of Aubrey holding him. For a few minutes it satisfied.

But then all that blood rushed back from his cock to his brain, and he tensed.

“Are you well?” asked Aubrey. Gently he touched Simon’s chin, urging him to look up. “Was I too rough?”

“No, I’m fine.” Simon’s headache came thundering back, though he couldn’t bring himself to be angry with Aubrey. The man had given him nothing he hadn’t wanted, but now a certain question begged harder than ever. He forced it out.

“Aubrey, I need to know. Were you trying to travel back in time to save a lover?”

“No.” Simon sagged into him with guilty relief. “A little before the last harvest, some soldiers came to our farm. I was away, fighting for the very same side, but they accused our people, who’d never harmed a soul, of witchcraft. Of devil worship.”

Simon’s jealousy felt suddenly wrong. He extracted himself and rose, wrapping himself tightly in a towel. “I’m so sorry.”

“So am I. They took away many of my friends. I must warn them. You see why I have to go home?”

Aubrey’s words ripped into him, raw and real, leaving him bewildered. He could only start to imagine what awful fate Aubrey’s companions had met. Torture, a stripping to search for the mark of Satan, or maybe a lashing. Possibly they were bound, then plunged into a cold, icy river, and the end result had probably been a slow, lingering death by hanging. Simon might not want to live as the Gildskipe had, but he doubted they deserved such a fate.

No wonder Aubrey had taken the risk of going back. So much for the frightened puppy Simon had rescued this morning. The man was a bloody hero.

A horrible feeling of inadequacy rose within. “I better get the food. Come down when you’re ready. We need to talk about the winter solstice, right?”

After drying himself and dressing in his room, Simon rushed downstairs. He located a bottle of decent Bordeaux, two old-fashioned pewter goblets, which he reckoned would make Aubrey feel at home, and some tall red candles in white pottery candlesticks. His actions did nothing to stop the bedlam restarting in his brain. What on earth had he just allowed to happen? He’d learned only one thing for certain. Aubrey had plenty of other people he cared about, including numerous lovers, and would never be for keeps.

Fuck it. What does that matter? I enjoyed it. He seemed to enjoy it too. Maybe I’m not quite as useless a lover as Pete made out.

But it didn’t make things any easier. What might he not be able to refuse this man next?

All the same he found himself keener than ever to please. He divided the turkey meal onto two plates, with the additional vegetables and some quick-cook Yorkshire puddings, only slightly charred, and arranged all of it neatly on a large tray. He carried the dinner to the coffee table in the lounge. Aubrey had dressed and sat waiting on the sofa, his long legs stretched out beneath the table.

Well, it wasn’t the Thanksgiving Simon had anticipated, but hey, he wasn’t alone. He just hoped Gran would forgive him his choice of predinner entertainment.

Pssst. Know What’s Coming in Two Weeks? SNOW BALLS!

Hi everyone–
Happy Thanksgiving to the Yanks and happy day to everyone! I don’t have my cover yet, but i still want to remind you that Snow Balls, the fourth book in the Balls to the Wall Series, is coming out December 7th from Etopia! If you’ve never read a Balls book you don’t have to worry. All of the books stand alone. They share characters, but the books each have their own individual story.

Snow Balls turns out to be a particular favorite of mine. The photo at the left is my impression of tough cop, Ryan Star.  Here’s the blurb.

Big, handsome and hunky, JJ LaRousse looks like an alpha male but acts like an interior decorator.

I have a special affection for my big handsome guy who isn’t an alpha at all! I’ll be sharing the cover in a few days! And i’ll post an excerpt soon. so this is just a heads up! Snow Balls is coming! Hooray!

No Penis? No Problem!

The His Own Devices Blog Tour

Cam and Sunshine, the two heroes from Jessica Freely’s new book, His Own Devices, have taken over her blog tour. Well, mainly Sunshine has…

Sunshine: Good morning and welcome to Day Three of the No Penis? No Problem! Blog tour. Today is the day our book, His Own Devices, is out and available for purchase! Woo hoo!

Cam: Thanks for to Tara for having us here, and to you for stopping by.

Sunshine: Be sure to leave a comment with your email addy, because Jessica is giving away a free book from her backlist to one lucky commenter.

Cam: Now, Here’s a little bit of information about the book:

Blurb: Cam still has the scars from his time as a slave mining malleum, a metal as strong as steel and as pliable as human flesh. His talent for fixing machines was his ticket out of that hell, but when he’s ordered to repair a malfunctioning android and instead falls in love, Cam discovers it’s his own shattered spirit that needs mending.

Sunshine’s “flaw” is that he has a personality and free will, traits that interfere with his role as the perfect, obedient worker. They also make him smart, sweet, and sexy as hell. Sunshine is determined to pursue a relationship with Cam, no matter what it takes. No penis? No problem! He’s made of malleum, and he can modify his anatomy to meet Cam’s deepest desires. The hard part is getting Cam to admit what he really wants.

Meanwhile, Cam’s boss expects him to complete repairs on the new worker prototype. It’ll be the mines for Cam and the scrap heap for Sunshine unless they can outwit a corporation founded on slavery and prove that even in the most unexpected places, love flourishes, transforming not just one wounded man, but also a whole world.

Cam: You know, I’m not sure we’re doing a very good job with this blog tour thing.

Sunshine: Really? I’m having fun. The readers seem to be having fun.

Cam: Yes, but are we really showing anyone what our book is actually about? All you do is talk about your penis and embarrass me with details of our private life.

Sunshine: Private life? Um. You do realize you’re a character in an erotic romance novel, right?

Cam: What?

Sunshine: Uh-oh.

Cam: You mean every time we… People are watching?

Sunshine: Reading would be more accurate. And we’d better hope they are. Books are made to be read and characters only live in readers imaginations.

Cam: …

Sunshine: Oh sweetheart. Come here. (Sunshine hugs Cam.) It’s okay. Look at it this way, no matter what happens in the real world, we’ll always be together.

Cam: Always?

Sunshine: Always.

Cam: (deep sigh) I guess that’s all right then.

Sunshine: (smiles) So what do you think, want to share another excerpt now?

Cam: Yeah, only this time I get to pick it out.

Cam never tired of the desert, especially at dawn and at dusk. When Halde first brought him to Dran and told him he could stay as long as he kept doing useful work for Zenesco, he’d been numb with wonder. He spent the first month sleeping out under the sky while he renovated the rest of the abandoned auto repair garage to make his workshop and living quarters.

Now, the sky was starting to turn blue. The tan earth was ghostly in the predawn light. “The sun will be up soon,” he told SNSH1.9.

“So this is the surface of the moon. A…desert, you said.”

“That’s right,” said Cam.

“That means a barren land—a place without life. But we’re here.”

Cam smiled. “That’s true.”

“I like it. I find it beautiful.”

“I love it.” Cam’s voice was thick.

“Why do you love it?”

He thought of dark, cramped spaces and cold rock walls. “Because half of it is sky.”

At that moment the sun crested the horizona sliver of fire that rapidly grew to a golden dome.

“What is that?” asked SNSH1.9.

“The sun of this planetary system. It’s a star named Mineon.”

They were both silent a moment as Mineon rose.

“I still haven’t decided on a name,” said the android, “but I know I want to be a ‘he,’ like you.”

“Well, you’re made to resemble a male, so that’s convenient. Just make sure you pick something you like.”

“At first I thought I should name myself after what I love, but it would be confusing if we were both named Cam, wouldn’t it?”

Cam told himself it was the light of the rising sun that made his eyes sting and water. “Yeah.”

Light bathed them both as the big orange ball ascended.

The android lifted his hands to the sun, as if to warm them at a fire. “This feels wonderful. Does it feel like this to you?”

“Probably not. But it feels good. Warm. For you, it’s probably even better because the sunshine is replenishing your energy reservoir. I designed these solar receptor systems to give positive feedback.”

“Thank you.” SNSH1.9 faced the rising sun, his arms outstretched, his head thrown back. He gasped. “It gets even better! This is the opposite of what recharging used to be like.”

It took Cam a moment to find his voice. “This is how it should feel.”

The android’s grin was like the crescent of Kalifax setting behind them. “Sunshine. That’s what I want my name to be.”

“That’s great.”

“You like it?”

Cam soaked in the warmth of the new day. “Yeah. I think Sunshine is the perfect name for you.”

“You do?”

Cam’s throat felt congested. His eyes stung. Shit. Was he crying? He looked away. “Yeah.”

Sunshine touched his shoulder. “You’re upset. What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know. Nothing, maybe.” Maybe something was right instead. Something bizarre, unexpected, and wonderful. A friend. Could it be?
