Hi–

Please help me welcome Adera Orfanelli who is launching a new book that sounds delightful and sexy! It’s called ABDUCTED. Be sure to hop down below and enter on the Rafflecopter for the beautiful print. Here’s Adera —

The Allure of Androids

In Abducted the heroine falls in love with a very life-like android, except he can do a few things that human males can’t do. I won’t spoil the fun surprise, but let’s just say it’s sure a feature every woman wishes she had in her boyfriend, mechanized or not.

I’m old enough to remember the way that the knowledge of Data (from Star Trek: The Next Generation) being “fully functional” set fandom all aflutter. At least the female, and probably quite a few of the male, fans. There were perks to having someone who wasn’t limited by our human needs for things like food and sleep.

Robots, and androids, have long remained figures of imagination. From the Jetsons to the work being done in Japan with robotics, finding a robot to provide companionship, not just do menial tasks, is at the forefront. There is interesting, if not exciting, work with robots being able to remind disabled or elderly persons to take their medications, as well as provide assistance when necessary. When not doing so, they provide companionship, and that’s important.

In the context of the book…why an android? For me I wanted to be fun. Yes, I was playing with the idea of being abducted by aliens, swept away to a life far different from our own here on Earth. And yet, the more some things change, the more they stay the same. And if someone has to be swept away from Earth by an android, at least in this case he is more than “fully functional”.

Abducted_AderaOrfanelli_coverlgGetting abducted by a hunky android wasn’t on Jacey’s list of things to do to try and reclaim her life after the death of her best friend and the loss of their business. But when her car crashes during a storm, she’s saved not by any rescue vehicle, but by Aiden Starsek, the Lord of BelaZed who informs her that he must have a wife or face deactivation. Jacey blames herself for her friend’s death. If she can stop another one, even if it means giving up everything she’s ever known, she will.
Aidan knows Deactivation Day nears and unless he’s able to find a human to love him he’ll die.. Unable to find love on his own planet, he discovers the beautiful Jacey on her own world, Earth. Her beauty entices him. Her compassion humbles him. And though in bed their passion is insatiable, he fears that it won’t turn to love in time to save his life. Only her love will save him, not just from Deactivation Day, but also from himself.
